Facebook Messenger for sales is a way to use messages on fanpage as the main channel for consulting and closing orders - from the moment the customer messages to ask until the time of deposit/payment all takes place in the dialog box. This is the most popular channel for Vietnamese small businesses because customers are used to using Facebook, and the Messenger dialog box allows attaching a "Send message" button right on the post to collect leads. Zenify recorded a 21% increase in conversion rate (approved) when businesses responded quickly to messengers.
TL;DR
- Sales messenger = consultation + closing orders right in the dialog box.
- Basic settings: attach Send message button, turn on responses, inbox permissions.
- 3-stage scenario: greeting → consulting → closing the order.
- Quick response (<15 minutes) is the deciding factor in closing the order.
- Combine auto-reply and template to avoid missing messages.
Install Sales Messenger
Step 1: Prepare fanpage
Business fanpage with complete information: description, products, contact.
Enable "Send message" button on posts and homepage — let customers message with one touch.
Step 2: Set up mailboxes
Install the fanpage management application/page on the phone for the team.
Turn on new message notifications.
If multiple people manage together: clearly decentralize who handles which messages (see Multi-agent: dividing inbox).
Step 3: Turn on automatic responses
Automatic greeting message when a customer just texted: "Hello, how can I help you?"
Reply after hours: "I will respond during office hours."
Warning: don't let auto-reply hide your genuine response — customers texting too many and only receiving mechanical responses will lose favor.
3-phase messenger script
Phase 1: Greeting and acknowledgment
When a customer messages for the first time:
Hello [name], thank you for your interest in [product]!
I will send you detailed information and price list. Which model are you interested in?
Goal: create a friendly atmosphere and ask for more information to give the right advice.
Phase 2: Consulting and handling concerns
Answer the question correctly, concisely, and valuablely.
Submit product images/videos when appropriate.
Handling concerns: "Are you worried about [problem]? We'll solve it with [solution]."
Phase 3: Closing the order
Please confirm: [product] + [price] + [promotion] + [delivery time].
Please confirm so I can finalize the order!
Closing the order needs to be quick — don't let the customer finish asking without being able to close. Include a clear payment method.
5 golden rules of messenger sales
Quick response — <15 minutes office hours; being slow means losing leads (see Reply quickly increases closing orders).
Do not reply mechanically — auto-reply is just a greeting, the main content must have a real person answering.
Have a price list ready — when customers ask for a price, the final price is close, don't make them wait.
Tracking orders — customers message and ask that after purchasing, there must still be someone to take care of them.
Collect inbox — if there are multiple channels, collect them in one place so you don't miss messages (see Collect multi-channel inbox).
