10 golden rules of online sales chat are principles that help employees turn a conversation into an order: respond quickly, address correctly, collect needs before introduction, create a script to close the order, and handle hesitant customers with the right attitude. Sales chat is not about "answering like a machine" — the goal is to make customers feel secure and buy. Zenify recorded a 21% increase in conversion rate (approved) for businesses applying chat standards.
TL;DR
- 10 rules: fast, right name, demand collection, script, closing, rejection, after-sale...
- Quick response <15 minutes is the foundation.
- Ask for needs first, make introductions later — don't "price" right away.
- Each guest needs to have an itinerary, without pressure.
- After chatting = after-sale care, no abandonment.
10 golden rules
1. Quick reply
Online customers can wait a few dozen minutes, not a few hours. Target <15 minutes operating hours. If you can't answer right away, text: "I'm reviewing the information, please reply to me right away!"
2. Correct address
Call the guest by name (from profile/message), address "brother/sister" according to age and industry. Proper address creates instant sympathy.
3. Collect needs before introducing
"What need are you looking for a product to serve? I'll give you the best advice."
Don't dump the entire category — ask first, recommend later.
4. Introduce the right focus
Introduce products that match needs, with highlights + reasons that are suitable for this customer. Not listing all features.
5. Handle price concerns
When customers ask for price: state price + value received + current promotion. Variable "how much?" to "is it worth it?"
6. Clear closing script
There is a natural closing step:
"Can you confirm the order for me? Delivery [time]."
7. Handle objections properly
Guests "to think" — not forced:
"Yes, if you need anything else just ask me. I'll take note and help you keep today's offer!"
8. Keep your promises
Promised to send price, call back, confirm order — must be fulfilled. Loss of reputation from a broken promise.
9. After-sale care
After customers buy: thank you messages, delivery updates, questions after receiving goods (see After-sale care messages).
10. Record and hand over
Write down important content (needs, promises, orders) — don't "remember it in your head". When leaving the shift, clearly hand over (see Multi-agent: chia inbox).
3 common sales chat errors
Slow response — customers leave before buying.
Don't ask about needs, immediately quote price — customers don't feel understood.
After-sale abandonment — customers buy once, never come back.
