There are 3 levels of AI in customer care. Chatbot answers, Copilot supports people, Agent works on his own. Most teams start at level 1, then move up to level 3 as repetition becomes more frequent. Zenify recorded 98.4% AI accuracy, reducing costs by 34%.
TL;DR
- Level 1 Chatbot: answer questions.
- Level 2 Copilot: suggestions, support people.
- Level 3 Agent: works independently through the system.
- It is not necessary to reach level 3 immediately.
- Select the level according to the amount of repetition.
What are the 3 levels of AI?
Level | Name | Can do | Example
1 | Chatbots | Answer questions | Policy Q&A (see What is Chatbot)
2 | Copilot | Support people | Suggested feedback (see AI Copilot)
3 | Agent | Self-employment | Check and update the application yourself (see AI Agent)
Details of each level
Level 1: Chatbot (answer)
Get questions → answer from scenario or knowledge base.
Do not manipulate the system, do not handle things yourself.
Suitable: small team, many customers ask frequently.
Level 2: Copilot (person support)
Answer suggestions, context summaries, policy reminders.
People still do and decide (see AI suggests responses).
Suitable: complex consulting teams, wanting to increase people productivity.
Level 3: Agent (self-employed)
Self-answer, look up, update and confirm through the system.
Risk supervisor and reviewer (see Human-in-the-loop).
Suitable: large volume, want to cut costs, increase speed.
How to choose the right level
Your team's situation | Level should start
Customers often ask many questions, few complicated things | Chatbots
Complex consultation, staff need support | Copilot
Too much repetition, overloaded team | Agent
Just starting out, no knowledge base yet | Chatbot first
Level upgrade roadmap
Level 1 first: chatbot answers correctly, measuring accuracy.
Add level 2: for employees to suggest feedback, reduce processing time.
Progress to level 3 for each job: Assign AI to safe tasks with clear rules.
Monitor and expand: measure self-processing rate, add work according to results (see 8 AI indicators).
Why not jump straight to level 3?
No knowledge base: Agent has nothing to do properly.
Unclear boundaries: Agents do it themselves without approval = risk.
Cost and complexity: Level 3 requires system and process integration.
